X-ray Safety Training

All U of T staff, students and faculty working with X-ray machines or X-ray sources are required to participate in X-ray safety training offered by the EHS Radiation Protection Service in addition to job-specific training. The following courses are currently offered:

  • EHS 741: X-ray Safety is required for all personnel working with or operating X-ray machines/sources at U of T. The training is required for all types of X-ray machines (i.e., open-beam, cabinet, mobile). The course is valid for three (3) years.
  • EHS 745: X-ray Safety Refresher is required for all personnel continuously working with X-ray machines/sources. This course is required every three (3) years.
  • EHS 742: X-ray Safety – Faculty of Dentistry is recommended for operators of dental X-ray machines at the Faculty of Dentistry clinics. This course is also recommended for personnel working in proximity but not operating the X-ray machines.
