Field work: Planting trees UTSC

The University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) will be able to build on its reputation as a leader in the field of environmental and biological science thanks to a $1 million gift from TD Bank Group. The gift will fund undergraduate and graduate students with research scholarships and also create the TD Limited Term Professorship in Urban Forest Conservation and Biology. This professorship will focus on research and teaching expertise in the field of environmental and/or biological science.
The research supported by the gift capitalizes on UTSC’s proximity to the Rouge Park, a more than 40-square-kilometre ecological “buffer zone” within the City of Toronto. In 2012, Parks Canada signed a memorandum of understanding naming UTSC as the primary research and education partner in the Rouge.
