Code General Packaging Requirements
B1 leak-proof container designed to withstand autoclaving temperatures when steam sterilization used
B2 autoclavable bags displaying biohazard warning symbol (not for sharps) supplied by researcher
C1 leakproof container (no biohazard bags) and no mixing of incompatible chemicals, chemical waste label completed & applied
C2 leakproof plastic container (no garbage bags) – label and treat as chemical waste
G1 20 litre white pails provided by Facilities and Services (Caretaking), must be able to close lid – nothing protruding
P1 if on-site autoclave unavailable, handled by external contractor and must be packaged using contractor’s protocols
R1 radioactive solid waste container, yellow, lined with yellow bag, supplied by EHS office, tag completed
